Why Park & Marcy

An independent broker, not a captive.

The carriers' rate filings are public; what changes the bill is class-code accuracy, mod calculation, and scheduled credits. We push on all three at every renewal. For higher-hazard NY classes (roofing, demolition, trucking) we shop AmTrust, Hanover, NYSIF alternatives, and surplus markets to find the structure that actually fits.

§ FAQ

Questions operators ask.

Is workers' compensation required in New York?+

Yes. New York requires almost every employer with one or more employees (including part-time and most family members) to carry workers' compensation. Penalties for non-compliance run $2,000 per 10-day period of non-coverage, plus actual claim costs.

What does workers' comp cover?+

Statutory medical care, lost wages (typically two-thirds of average weekly wage up to the NY cap), permanent disability awards, and death benefits for work-related injuries and illnesses. Employer's liability (Coverage B) responds to lawsuits outside the statutory grant.

How is my workers' comp premium calculated?+

Premium = payroll ÷ 100 × class-code rate × experience modifier (mod) × carrier-specific factors. We review your class codes (mis-classification is the #1 source of overpayment) and your mod calculation before each renewal.

Can you help reduce a high experience mod?+

Yes — we audit your loss runs for mis-coded claims, push for proper claim closure, and coordinate return-to-work programs that limit lost-time days. We also requote to carriers with more favorable scheduled credits for your industry.
